Elder Jasper L. Norwood: A Journey of Faith and Service
Elder Jasper L. Norwood's spiritual journey began in January 1994 with a profound acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. This pivotal moment marked the start of a lifelong commitment to faith and service. Following this, he embarked on a transformative path by attending a new member's class at Refuge Temple Church in Buffalo, New York. After completing the class, Elder Norwood felt a divine calling to serve in the outreach ministry, guided by the Holy Spirit. His initial ministry focused on reaching out to various communities, including the homeless, streets, nightclubs, nursing homes, and prisons. He was also dedicated to witnessing to unsaved family members and others in need. His primary mission was to introduce God's Plan of Salvation to those seeking guidance. In March 2005, Elder Norwood embraced his calling as a Minister of the Gospel at Revelation Baptist Church in Buffalo, New York. This major milestone was followed by another calling in July 2006, leading him to serve at Freedom Baptist Church in Selma, Alabama. From May 2016 to 2018, he served as an Associate Minister at New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. During this time, he deepened his commitment to serving others and spreading the message of faith. In 2021, Elder Norwood relocated to Gainesville, Florida, joining the First Missionary Baptist Church serving in the Outreach Ministry. Elder Norwood currenlty resides in Ocala Florida.
The Call to Extend God's Plan of Salvation Beyond Church Walls
In recent reflections, I have observed that the church has become so preoccupied with its internal activities that it has overlooked the crucial mission of sharing God's Plan of Salvation beyond its sanctuary. Just outside our church doors, there are individuals who are lost, homeless, battling addiction, and spiritually adrift, leading lives devoid of purpose and hope.

The Great Commission is a critical mission given by Jesus Christ to Christians, as outlined in Matthew 28:18-20. In these verses, Jesus commands, “All power is given unto me in Heaven and in Earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” This is not a mere suggestion but a directive emphasizing the importance of spreading His message actively.

Understanding Jesus and being knowledgeable about the Bible are foundational, yet they are not sufficient for Salvation. True faith requires a personal relationship with Jesus and a commitment to advancing His kingdom. Believers must internalize God’s Word, letting it shape their actions, and apply biblical teachings in daily life as crucially as knowing them.

Then said HE unto HIS disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few.

ACTION
Therefore, let us take God's Plan of Salvation to the people. Matthew 6:33 (KJV) gives this command, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Our Purpose:
Let us go and be about our Father's business. "Then He said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the laborer's are few". Matthew 9:37 (NIV)

Recognize:
For it is by the grace you been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

Confess:
You cannot save yourself; you are a guilty sinner worthy of God's righteous judgment. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 (NIV)

"That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9-10 (NIV)

Believe:
Believe the good news that Christ died for the ungodly, was raised from the dead, and now lives to save all who come to him in faith. "But God demostrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8(KJV)

"Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God."
MISSION
Call:
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ with a sincere desire to be saved from your sins. For God promises in Romans 10:13 (NIV) that "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved by the Blood of Christ."

Rely:
Rely upon God's promise, not upon your feelings. By faith declares you are sealed by the Blood of Jesus Christ. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23 (NIV)
